Leadership Team

Tom Stemm

Founder & CEO

Tom Stemm one of the co-founders of Ryvit, brings more than 15 years of experience in the software development and information technology management industries.  In his role he leads strategy, operations, and financial planning for the company. He has been innovating and producing a wide expanse of enterprise IT solutions throughout his career. This includes driving development for numerous corporate client initiatives, as well as providing leadership for the Ryvit platform architecture.   Tom’s broad experience coupled with his deep understanding of the development challenges and complexities customers face when optimizing to remain competitive combine as excellent qualifications for the role of Chief Executive Officer.

In early 2011, Tom identified an opportunity in the market to deliver software development services in a new way to provide scale and interoperability among industry focused applications.  As a recognized authority on innovative integration and development, he set the course for the Ryvit strategy.  He paved the way for companies to acquire integration capabilities with economy of scale by launching a platform that ensures ease of entry and maximum participation for partners.  Tom takes a serious and integral approach to integration, unlike most solutions on the market–  we are not an SDK or a simple import/export tool–we build, implement, deliver, and manage the comprehensive integration platform required for meaningful efficiency gains and insightful analytics spanning best-in-class applications.

Additionally, Tom leads and serves as CEO of GadellNet, named an Inc. Magazine 2000 fastest growing company.  He has been with the firm since 2005.   Prior to GadellNet, Tom gained extensive experience in various roles as a developer, technical lead, architect, and auditor. Tom’s Audit background enables a solid understanding of security and control structures, as well as the ability to test and analyze applications and networks for vulnerabilities and risk management.

Tom holds a B.S. in Business Administration, Management Information Systems, and a B.A. in Computer Science with a mathematics minor from St. Louis University.  He enjoys participating in CrossFit and staying active outdoors, and especially loves to travel and gain perspective from other places, experiences, and cultures.  He also serves on the Board of the Crohn’s and Colitis Foundation of America – the Mid-America Chapter, as well as the PayIT Forward Foundation.

Nick Smarelli

Nick Smarelli

Founder & Managing Partner

Nick Smarrelli is one of the founders and managing partners with Ryvit.  Nick is also Chief Operating Officer of GadellNet Consulting Services, a 2 time Inc. 5000 small business ranked 7th in the state of Missouri as one of the fastest growing companies.  As a thought leader in the business community, Nick sees Ryvit as being a bold disrupter in the way that businesses utilize technology.  With Ryvit, small businesses can not only comfortably select “best in breed” technologies, but the software makes them a better leader and strategist on behalf of their company.  To partners of Ryvit, this vastly opens their market and creates a competitive edge against their peers.

Nick has lived in four countries in his tenure as a professional: Hong Kong, China, Spain and the US.  He is an Ironman athlete who resides in Indianapolis with his wife and two kids, Jack and Charlotte.

Joe Gadell

Founder & CTO

Joe is one of the founders and CTO for the company.  He meets the challenge to keep up with rapidly changing technology, and ensures business potential is maximized by aligning people, processes and systems for scale. Reliability, security, and performance standards are achieved at the highest industry levels, resulting in numerous accolades and awards for providing the best service in the business.

For as long as he can remember, Joe has been interested in technology and business. He was given his first computer when he was 7 years old and immediately took interest in learning how to use it and how to break it so he could watch and learn how his dad would fix it. Joe proceeded to help run his grade school labs and taught himself enough BASIC, C and eventually C++ programming so that he could write small utilities and software plug-ins for a popular modem dial-up Bulletin Board System called TriBBS.

While growing up, Joe watched his dad operate a successful small business and hoped that he could one day work with him or maybe own a small business at some point in my life. He never dreamed he would be lucky enough to have the opportunity as soon as he did – just 6 months out of Saint Louis University (SLU). Prior to launching Gadellnet in 2009, he worked for IBM providing database design, development, and IT consulting services.

As the backbone of our infrastructure, Joe ensures our Ryvit Platform technology is reliable 99.99% of the time, fine-tuned, secure and optimized for scale for your business critical applications. As an engineering and architecture buff, he recently oversaw the completion a $1.35 million renovation to a building in downtown St. Louis.
